Clarendon Fund Managers Joins National Trust NI for Beach Clean at Murlough

At Clarendon Fund Managers, we believe in the importance of giving back – not just through the businesses we support, but also by making a positive contribution to our wider community and environment. On Friday 16th May, our team had the pleasure of stepping away from our desks and heading to Murlough National Nature Reserve in County Down to take part in a beach clean in partnership with National Trust NI.

Protecting One of Northern Ireland’s Natural Treasures

Murlough National Nature Reserve, located near Newcastle, is one of Northern Ireland’s most treasured coastal landscapes, renowned for its rich biodiversity, stunning sand dunes, and panoramic views of the Mourne Mountains. It is also home to a wide variety of wildlife and plant species that rely on a healthy, clean environment to thrive.

Unfortunately, like many coastal areas, it faces challenges from litter and marine waste, which can harm local ecosystems. That’s why initiatives like the National Trust’s beach clean programme are so important – helping to protect these areas for future generations to enjoy.

A Day of Teamwork and Impact

Our team spent the day walking the beach and dunes, collecting and safely disposing of litter and debris that had been washed ashore or left behind by visitors. It was incredibly rewarding to see the difference we could make in just a few short hours.

The experience was not only about environmental impact – it was also a great opportunity for team bonding. Getting outdoors together in such a beautiful setting allowed us to connect in a different way than we do in the office, strengthening relationships and reinforcing the importance of teamwork in all that we do.

Our Thanks to National Trust NI

We are extremely grateful to National Trust NI for organising and hosting the event. Their team were fantastic in providing information about the local area, explaining the environmental challenges facing our coastlines, and equipping us to make a meaningful contribution.

National Trust NI does incredible work across Northern Ireland to protect and care for our natural and built heritage, and we are proud to have supported their efforts at Murlough.

Get Involved

We would highly encourage other organisations and individuals to consider volunteering with National Trust NI. Whether it’s a beach clean, conservation work, or other volunteering activities, it’s a wonderful way to give back while learning more about the places we’re so lucky to have on our doorstep.

You can find out more about volunteering opportunities on the National Trust NI website.
