Clarendon Fund Managers is a leading Belfast based venture capital firm dedicated to investing in innovative businesses with high growth potential across the whole of Northern Ireland. We specialise in supporting high growth companies across various industries, from software to healthcare, with a focus on driving impactful change and generating significant returns for our investors.

We currently manage Co-Fund NI on behalf of Invest Northern Ireland and British Business Investments. In order to support the recently launched Investment Fund for Northern Ireland (established by the British Business Bank) we are creating three new positions within our investment management team:

  1. Investment Manager
  2. Investment Associate
  3. Investment Analyst

Investment Manager

As an Investment Manager, you will play a critical role in sourcing, evaluating, and executing investment opportunities, as well as providing strategic guidance and support to our portfolio companies.

Responsibilities

  • Source and evaluate investment opportunities in high growth companies, conducting comprehensive technical, commercial and financial due diligence.
  • Lead negotiations and structuring of investment deals, ensuring alignment with our investment objectives and strategic targets.
  • Provide strategic guidance and mentorship to portfolio companies, leveraging your own expertise to help drive growth and maximise returns.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with entrepreneurs, industry experts co-investors and other stakeholders to stay abreast of emerging trends and opportunities.
  • Collaborate across the team to manage portfolio performance, monitor key metrics, and optimise investment strategies.

Qualifications

  • Degree Level education or equivalent professional qualification in finance, business, or a related field.
  • Substantial experience in corporate finance or venture capital, with an understanding of the high growth company ecosystems and investment dynamics.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess market trends, financial statements, and business models.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for innovation and technology.

Investment Associate

As an Investment Associate, you will play a pivotal role in evaluating potential investment opportunities and supporting the investment team in the decision-making process.  You will work closely with the investment team to conduct commercial and financial due diligence and also actively develop relationships in the local investment ecosystem.  Additionally, you will engage with portfolio companies, providing operational support to help them scale and succeed.

Responsibilities

  • Source and evaluate investment opportunities, conducting market research and competitive analysis to assess potential risks and returns.
  • Perform financial modelling, including revenue projections, cost analysis, and valuation assessments, to support investment decisions.
  • Drive the due diligence process, conducting comprehensive reviews of target companies’ business models, management teams, and growth strategies.
  • Prepare investment memos and presentations for internal review and external stakeholders, articulating investment theses and recommendations.
  • Support portfolio companies post-investment, collaborating with management teams to address operational challenges, develop growth strategies, and optimise performance.

Qualifications

  • Degree level education.
  • Track record in venture capital, corporate finance, management consulting, or operating in a high growth company environment.
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and synthesise insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across the team and build relationships with entrepreneurs and industry stakeholders.
  • Proactive mindset and entrepreneurial spirit, with an interest in technology, innovation, and high growth companies.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Investment Analyst

As an Investment Analyst, you will play a crucial role in evaluating and supporting the review of investment opportunities in high growth potential companies.  This role requires the ability to develop an understanding of emerging technologies, market trends, and financial analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluating pitches and business plans to assess their market fit, competitive advantage, and growth potential.
  • Conducting comprehensive market research and due diligence on potential investment opportunities, including industry analysis, competitive landscape assessment, and financial modelling.
  • Assisting in the preparation of investment memos, presentations, and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Monitoring and tracking the performance of existing investments, providing insightful analysis and recommendations.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders in the local ecosystem to source new investment opportunities and stay abreast of market developments.
  • Working with the team on running the Clarendon Private Investor Network.

Qualifications

  • Degree level education.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in related software tools including Excel.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively.
  • Experience of corporate finance, venture capital or operating experience in high growth potential companies with data analytics and software development also considered.
